This tour will take you through some of the most beautiful villages in Spain’s heartland. The tour starts in Segovia. The city is famous for its historic buildings, which includes three landmarks: its Roman Aqueduct, its Gothic style cathedral, and the ‘Alcázar’ – from the arabic voice Al-Qasr – meaning ‘castle’, which served as an inspiration in Disney’s Cinderella’s Castle. The city center was declared of World Heritage by UNESCO in 1985.

Throughout the tour you will visit some of the most bucolic and astonishing villages in the Iberian Peninsula – Pedraza, Sepúlveda, Ayllón -, and you will cycle along breathtaking landscapes through the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.

The first cycling day will take you to two of the most significant royal palaces in Spain. First, you will visit the Palacio de La Granja de San Ildefonso, an early 18th century building at the foothills of the Guadarrama mountains. With its baroque style, its french gardens and its sculptural fountains, this palace was the summer resicence of the Spanish kings since the reign of Philip the 5th and nowadays is a public museum.

Then the route will take you to the Palacio Real de Riofrío, an Italian style edifice surrounded by a quite forest with deer and fallow deer.

Finally, you will return to Segovia to keep enjoying this wonderful city.

Today you will cycle into the region of «La Ribera del Duero», quite famous for its amazing wines to finaly reach the town of Peñafiel, which is best known for the Peñafiel Catle and for its medieval square named «Plaza de Coso» . The square is surrounded by private homes, but since medieval times the rights to use their windows, balconies and doorways during bullfights are owned by the town. We don´t like bullfighting at all but is part of the story of our country.

In Peñafiel are located some of the most relevant wineries in Spain and we can arrange a visit to one of them on request.

You will reach this wonderful village after a cycling day along quiet roads through evocative landscapes of the Spanish plateau.

You will come across the historic town of Maderuelo, where we will walk through its streets and discover the most interesting places that this Segovian town treasures.
